BUILDING INFORMATION MODELING
BIM has become a very popular term in the construction industry of late, the benefits and advantages of working in a BIM methodology can be hugely rewarding, and range from cost savings, reduction in on site errors, to better building life cycle management. In order to get the most out of your BIM project, it is important to understand the best practices, standards, laws, and responsibilities of all team members, our experience and expertise in delivering BIM projects allows us to pass this knowledge on to our clients, and cut through the confusion and ambiguity that currently surrounds BIM.
Asking the right questions at the start of a new enterprise is the key to achieving a successful BIM project, and will help identify the project requirements, deliverables, and team structure.
PURPOSE
What is the function of the building, and how will it fit in your portfolio?
Understanding this will help teams define their Organisation Information Requirements (OIR) and Asset Information Requirements (AIR)
Benefits
What are the benefits of using BIM on your project?
Data driven decisions used to:
-
Reducing risk.
-
Reducing errors on site.
-
Reduced operational costs.
EXPECTATIONS
Do you know your deliverables at each stage of the project?
Data and information are the biggest value in BIM projects, understanding what Data you are getting will help ensure you get the right information when you need it.

GOALS
What are you hoping to achieve on this project?
COST
Is BIM more expensive than traditional workflows?
One of the overall goals of using BIM is to reduce costs. This is most often seen in OPEX savings, however CAPEX costs can also be reduced if they teams are well trained.
Legal
What obligations, roles and responsibility are needed to work in BIM environments?
Identifying each stakeholder's role, defining BIM procedures and deliverables in project contracts, and using common language will help produce a clear path for delivering a robust BIM project.
Legistlation
Is it a mandated requirement to use BIM on my project?
The UK government mandate is for BIM to be used on centrally procured Government projects as outlined in the GCS. There is not minimum value for these types of projects.
Current
What is your current process?
Do you get what you require from your current methodology?
Where are you lacking?
Which areas/stages/roles produce the most and the least benefits to you?
BIM SERVICES
CLIENT CONSULTATION AND GUIDANCE:
BIM projects can be very rewarding for all parties involved in the process. The key to achieving the best results from BIM is to understand the client requirements for their project, and address these issues early in the project process.
In order to ensure the best results it is important that all stakeholders have a thorough understanding of the benefits, processes, and work-flows involved in a BIM project. We are available to ensure that everyone in the team, from the client, to the subcontractors have a strong and robust understanding of the BIM process as well as the roles and responsibilities of each stakeholder in the overall scheme.

BIM PROJECT ASSESSMENT:
Whether you are embarking on a new project, or are halfway through completion on site at your current project, having the ability to review and asses the state of your BIM project is very important. This is particularly true considering the differing views and interpretations of the meaning of BIM in large teams. We provide assessment on the strengths of the teams, the quality of work, the application of standards, including BS & PAS1192, and reports on the overall progress of the project.

CONTRACT NAVIGATION:
The BIM process has the potential to change the way we conduct the business of constructing buildings. Through BIM we can create better, faster, more efficient buildings, however, in order to that we need to realise the responsibilities of each stakeholder. Negotiating the best outcome for our clients is dependent on their needs for each project. Once this has been defined, it is important to add those definitions to the contract in order to ensure all parties are clear about their legal responsibilities and deliverables.

BIM MANAGEMENT, COORDINATION, AND DELIVERY:
As well as the project services discussed above, we are also able to provide more traditional BIM delivery services including setting up company standards, model coordination, and document delivery for various stages of the project.
